These terms govern your use of QuantClarity, including the dashboard and the transcription API. By creating an account or calling the API you agree to them.

QuantClarity is operated by QuantClarity. The same terms apply to every person or organisation using the service on your instruction. How we handle your data is set out separately in our Privacy Policy.

The service

QuantClarity is an online speech-to-text service. You upload audio and it returns a transcript, either immediately or as a job you poll. It includes a web dashboard, an API, and per-account rate limits.

Uploads are limited to 25 MB per file and to the audio and video formats we accept. Requests are rate limited per API key, and each account may have a limited number of transcriptions running at once. We may adjust these limits as we scale; if we lower a limit on an account we will tell you.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account. Keep your password and API keys confidential; you are responsible for everything done through your account and keys, including by anyone you give them to. Tell us promptly if you think a key has leaked, and revoke it in the dashboard. You may hold one account unless we agree otherwise in writing.

You must give accurate registration details and keep them current. You may not share an account, resell access as a standalone service, or attempt to gain access to another account or to the underlying infrastructure.

Acceptable use

You may only use QuantClarity for lawful purposes, and only with audio you have the right to process. In particular, do not use the service to:

  • transcribe or analyse any recording of a person who has not consented where consent is required, or transcribe calls, meetings or interviews you are not authorised to record or process;
  • process personal data in breach of applicable privacy law, or upload data you are not entitled to disclose to a third-party processor;
  • transcribe content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, or that promotes abuse or discrimination;
  • upload malware, or material whose purpose is to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service;
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service, or circumvent rate limits, credit accounting or usage records;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive source code from the service, except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
  • resell raw API access, or provide a transcription product to third parties in a way that competes with QuantClarity, without our written consent;
  • send automated bulk or high-volume requests that degrade the service for others.

Your audio and your rights in it

You keep ownership of the audio you upload and of the transcript we produce from it. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to upload it, and for the lawfulness of processing it through our sub-processors.

You grant us a limited licence to host, copy, transmit and process your audio, and to return the transcript, for the purpose of running the service for you. That licence ends when you delete the audio or close your account, except for copies we must keep for legal reasons. This licence does not let us use your content to train models or for another customer's transcript.

Credits, minutes and billing

One credit equals one minute of audio. We reserve an estimate of the minutes your job needs before we start processing, then charge the actual duration of the audio once the job finishes, rounded up to the next whole minute with a minimum of one minute for any non-empty file. If a job fails or is cancelled, nothing is charged and the reserved minutes are returned to your balance.

New accounts receive a one-time grant of free minutes. Additional minutes are bought in fixed packs. We show the pack contents and price before you pay, and the amount you are charged in the checkout is the amount on your receipt.

Payments are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card details. Prices exclude any taxes that apply, and you are responsible for those. Unused minutes do not expire while your account is open.

Refunds and disputes

If a transcription fails, you are not charged for it, and reserved minutes are returned automatically. You do not need to request a refund for a failed job.

If you believe you were charged twice, or charged for minutes you did not receive, contact us and we will investigate. Until a charge is refunded, you can continue using the service.

No accuracy guarantee

Transcription is probabilistic. Outputs can contain errors, omissions, additions, mishearings, wrong speaker attribution, wrong language detection and wrong timestamps, and they may be worse for background noise, overlapping speakers, accents, code-switching, poor audio quality or languages outside a model's training. We do not warrant that any transcript is accurate, complete, verbatim, or fit for a legal, medical, financial, compliance or safety purpose, and you must review and verify transcripts before relying on them.

Inaccuracy is not a service failure and is not grounds for a refund, unless the law says otherwise.

Third-party providers and routing

Transcriptions are performed by third-party model providers reached through a model gateway. We may change, replace or add providers, and change which provider handles a given language or audio profile. That routing is a core part of how the service works.

Those providers act with their own terms and privacy policies, which also apply to your audio and transcript. We do not control them and are not responsible for their availability, changes or performance. We are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of any model we do not operate.

Availability and changes

The service is provided on an as-available basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and we may change, suspend or retire features, models, formats and limits. Planned maintenance is announced in the dashboard where practical. We are not liable for downtime or loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control, including third-party provider outages.

Suspension and termination

We may limit, suspend or close an account, with or without notice, if you breach these terms, if we suspect a key or account is compromised, or if we need to do so to protect the service or other customers. Reasons can include abusive or automated traffic, attempts to bypass limits or credit accounting, illegal content, or a valid legal request.

Where the law allows, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem. On suspension or closure you can export or download your transcripts before the account is closed. Closing your account deletes your audio, jobs, transcripts and keys, except records we must keep for legal reasons. Minutes already consumed are not refundable merely because an account is closed, subject to the refund policy above.

Intellectual property

The service, including its software, design, brand and documentation, belongs to us and our licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive licence to use the service as intended under these terms. These terms grant no right to our name, logo or trade marks without our written permission.

Confidentiality and publicity

Each of us will keep the other's confidential information confidential and use it only to operate the service. This does not cover information that is public, or that you ask us to publish. We will not announce your name, logo or use your audio or transcripts in marketing without your written consent.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Indemnity

Governing law and disputes

Before anything in this section applies, please contact us first. Most disagreements are about a charge or a failed job, and we would rather resolve it directly than through a process.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will revise the 'Last updated' date and, if a change is material, tell you by email or in the dashboard before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms. Terms that conflict with the law in your country are read as narrowed to the minimum extent needed.
